Able to provide reliable, close-in fire support against dug-in targets on the ground, it came to be used by not only the U.S. Navy and Marines, but the Air Force as well. Many of the Air Force Skyraiders were equipped with ejection seats and for communication with ground forces, a FM-622 homing antenna and a UHF\/AM antenna on the rear of the fuselage. This highly versatile aircraft has been authentically recreated by Tamiya in 1\/48 scale. Tamiya's model features a brand new design of the ejection seat, just like that of the real Air Force A-1J Skyraider. Flaps and three sets of dive-brakes on the fuselage can be modeled in the up or down position. This set includes a vast array of weaponry including Mk.82 bomb, M117 bomb, LAU-3A rocket launcher, and SUU-11A\/A gun pod.
